Little Waggers Puppy Classes

Puppy classes for you and your new best friend! The classes run in 6-week intervals and limit to 8 puppies per class. Sign up today so that everyone starts off on the right paw. We will be capping the class size to 8 puppies so that we can ensure each puppy is getting the attention he deserves. This will also ensure that shy or fearful puppies can work at their own pace, getting extra help if they need it.

Topics covered in classes will include, canine communication, basic manners & obedience, how to safely socialize your puppy, introducing puppy to novel items, sound desensitization, grooming & handling and supervised playtime (when appropriate). Through these classes, you will learn how to make the right training decisions for your puppy and his skill level.

Start: November 5, 2017 • Class runs from 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Where: Waggin’ Tails
Who: Puppies 8-20 weeks old with 1st set of vaccinations
Cost: $125 for 6 weeks (6 classes)

Call us at 403.699.9665 to register and pay for your classes prior to start date.

These classes utilize reward-based training philosophies, so be prepared! Please bring a selection of small, soft, tasty treats for your puppy. Because we believe in positive training methods, only flat nylon (buckle or clip) collars or harnesses will be allowed. Please make sure you have a regular nylon or leather leash (either 6ft or 4ft), no flexi-leashes are allowed in classes.

Good Dogs!

This isn’t your average obedience class, at all! Suitable for any dog over 5 months of age, we will work on useful behaviours such as loose leash walking, recall (with collar grab), general manners (including door etiquette and polite greetings), attention with distractions, relaxed behaviours while on-leash, go-to-mat and self control. We’re also adding in an intro to clicker training and a demo on shaping behaviours so that you and your dog can be set up for all kinds of FUN training success in the future!

All classes use reward-based training methods, so make sure you bring treats that your dog thinks are super yummy (soft meaty or cheesy type treats, no hard cookies or kibble) and ensure that you’re using a flat buckle collar or a harness.

More on treats. A good size is about the size (or half the size) of your pinky fingernail of some type of soft, meaty or cheesy treat that your dog considers high value. Dehydrated liver/chicken, Natural Balance food roll, cheese, Zuke’s Mini Naturals or Cloud Star Tricky Trainers are good examples of food treats that puppies typically like.
